Adding a shared Outlook calendar to a mobile phone

Background - Dana Jalovick aspired to be able to see Russ Nixon's calendar on her phone.

To accomplish this, two components are needed:
1- A calendar app that supports viewing multiple calendars.  An app that has proven to be exceptional for this is "Business Calendar" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=netgenius.bizcal or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appgenix.bizcal).
2- The Team Calendar Sync App, which allows a user to access calendars that they have permissions for in MS Exchange - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamsite.android.calendar.generated (android) or https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/team-calendar-sync/id995285644?mt=8 (iphone)

Configuration -

1- Open the Team Calendar Sync app and add the account for the user who is the owner of the phone.  This user will enter their OWN login credentials.  Once authenticated, they should be able to see and select from the calendars that are shared with them and which would otherwise be visible in Outlook.
2- Open the calendar application (such as Business Calendar) and go to settings > calendars and make sure that the newly added calendar is now visible.  It should be in a section of it's own towards the bottom, under something like tscs calendars or something to that effect.

Troubleshooting -

In the event that the shared calendar stops syncing or is no longer visible, here are some things to be mindful of and try...

  • If the user recently changed their password, it will need to be updated in the Team Calendar Sync settings as well.
  • If the above step has been done and there are still issues authenticating, make sure that there is not an intruder lockout on the account as a result of it being incorrect in the first place (this would be done in AD Users and Computers).
