How to Change/Reset Your Cairn Account Password

For users who need to change a University account password or recall the username on their account, Self-Service provides two password change links on the left side of the homepage (selfservice.cairn.edu); the user shall not attempt to login to Self-Service to execute the change.

Employees shall click on the Employee Password Change link and provide the requested information.  When finished, click on Set My Password.  When the process completes, a confirmation page will display Your Password was Successfully Reset.  This action updates the employee's password for each synchronized University system; network access, email, self-service, eLearning, Dynamics, intranet and uniFLOW print/copy/scan.  It does not change the password established for stand-alone applications; PowerCampus, PowerFaids, Raiser's Edge & Financial Edge.

Students & Alumni shall click on the Student/Alumni Password Change link and provide the requested information.  When finished, click on Set My Password.  When the process completes, a confirmation page will display Your Password was Successfully Reset.  This action updates the student's or alumni's password for each of the student web-based applications; Cairn Gmail, eLearning, self-service, intranet and uniFLOW print/copy/scan.

New Students who have received an email from Curt, instructing them to activate their Cairn student account, shall click on the Student/Alumni Password Change link and provide the requested information.  When finished, click on Set My Password.  When the process completes, a confirmation page will display Your Password was Successfully Reset.  This action updates the student's password for each of the student web-based applications; Cairn Gmail, eLearning, self-service, intranet and uniFLOW print/copy/scan.

Notes:

  • If the user is both an Employee and a Student, the password for each account is updated separately by clicking the corresponding Password Change link.  If the user wishes to maintain a synchronized password between the two accounts, both Password Change links must be executed respectively.
  • The validation for the requested personal information checks the data in PowerCampus; last name, date of birth, last four digits of the SS#.  If any of this data is incorrect in PowerCampus, a student must contact the Registrar's Office to have it corrected.  This remains consistent with the protocol that once an applicant becomes a Student, the data belongs to the Registrar; not Admissions.  If the data is incorrect for an employee, either Mary Boyer (Faculty/Staff Data) or Dotty Ellenberg (Adjunct Faculty Data) must be contacted to effect the change in PowerCampus.
    • Caution-TS may NOT change a student's personal data in PowerCampus to allow the student to activate an account.  This condition is mandated by FERPA regulations.  Check with Curt if you have questions.
  • Activation of new student accounts is not available until the new student receives the email notification (to the personal email account of record) from Curt.  Admissions often thinks the new accounts are ready as soon as the applicant is deposited; not so.  A new student account is created within 24 hours of the applicant being changed to Student status in PowerCampus.
